9 months movies in the iPad?
Have your baby carrier with you, multiple toys, multiple bottles for take off and landing especially.
By a new toy, one of those with multiple lights from Fischer Price or Baby Einstein - it’s not the time to get Montessori, it’s the time for shiny baby-hypnotic stuff. Try to push times so you get to have at least one nap during the flights
Haha fun solid food? What’s that entail and how much cash are you bringing to pay off the flight attendants?
Thanks for all the help! The day went about as well as possible. He was awesome on the flights, even napped for about 75min on the first flight. I think he may have set a record for Gerber puffs consumed in a day
This is exactly the life of kids hahah glad you made it back safe!
We flew 13,000 miles, close to 20 plus hours with a 9 month old.
- make sure they have something to suck on while taking off/landing
- use the bassinet, generally being tired and with low lights they might wanna sleep
- walk/take stretch around the flight once/twice so they have something interesting to see
- keep the food ready/ handy
Truly awesome! Thanks for sharing! I’m hoping to make a trip to the Middle East from California but my kid will be a little older by then haha
Expect everything to go wrong. Assume no time to think, pee or eat in peace. Drink/eat something on the way up and down. Headphones with plenty of downloaded media. Benadryl or melatonin as a backup. And know that it will all be over soon, until you have to do it again on the way home.
Ya, cancel while you still can.
Bring lots of snacks. When you think you have enough, throw some more in your bag
Accept that it will be long and painful and that you’ll get there just fine
Flying with your partner? If so, something I saw on Instagram is one of you boards the plane and gets situated with all the stuff while the other stays out front with the baby. The idea being the partner and baby then board at the very end to minimize the time spent on plane.
I’d consider having one board later - Doona is very easy to fit in seats, but heavy. Carry it straight in front of you as you walk down the aisle and put it in the window seat or flight attendants will get mad that it’s blocking exit path.
9 month old shouldnt be too bad. Give him his bottle at take off if possible. Try and get an aisle seat. Make use of passengers around you. Most people love babies. They will make funny faces and generally keep the baby distracted. Put on fresh diaper right before boarding . Have some toys trinkets handy.
Flying with my 10 month alone for the first time Thursday! Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
Download movies on the iPad!! Best advice I gave for you now!
Been there several times, feed that kid non stop, stay calm your energy will transfer to the child. Nobody else will care if the baby cries (you will worry way too much about others)
Learn how to change a dirty diaper while they are laying across your lap.
Did this a few weeks ago and can empathize with what you must be feeling now. Trust me, you and baby will be prepared and fine. People will be super understanding and helpful. And those who are not, don’t deserve your politeness.
Agree with everyone - feed while taking off/landing and lots of toys. Do remember at least one or two extra outfits for the baby in your carry on, and preferably a change of clothes for each of you too (in case baby has any accidents). Enjoy and don't stress too much! :)

Airport family restrooms always busy. We always changed diapers at an empty gate. Makes so much easier.
