Graduating Ph.D. program 2021, received offer from tiny boutique for 140TC+random small boutique benefits. Would be better commute, non metro area closer to home. Waiting to hear back from well known life science boutique (think ZS, Clearview, Putnam). Offer would be for NYC office, would likely relocate.

If offer is given, a) at what $ is this worth and b) is brand everything for first firm out of school?

Also would the life science boutiques reasonably pay more than that?

Recommendations for improving lower back / sciatica pain. Is there a seat cushion / lumbar support cushion that genuinely helps you? I’m all ears. I have a high quality office chair and try to use my desk in standing mode at least once a day and wear good trainers for feet support. But the lower back pain is a killer. I asked for $135K for a managerial position in govt sector at KPMG and I think I lowballed myself by putting that number on the application. If I receive am offer can I ask for more ? They never gave me a range but I feel like govt sector at all these firms is lower pay but that's my wheelhouse. It's 35% more than I make now so it sounds like a good number but based on research on here I could probably ask for 150k? Help!
