Happy Diwali! What’s everyone making today?

Hey all! Would anyone mind running through some practice cases with me this weekend and next week? I have my final interviews for TD&E at EY next week and unfortunately, I don’t have anyone to help me prepare for the case interview :/ I haven’t done a case in 2 years so I’m a little nervous and want to prepare as much as possible

Anyone at Google open to networking? My new role (haven’t started yet) is senior and I want to start building my network in advance so I don’t feel so lost and alone at such a big company when I join!! I love getting to know people! If you’re open to getting to know a Noogler and be part of my network/support system, I’d really love to chat and learn about you/what you do/where your group fits into the big picture. Google DM me :) 🙏🏻

knew a dude from ‘23 batch, traveled the world for 3mo before returning. He recommended it
I did the same. It was amazing!
I was part of the first batch in Q1 2023, and some tips I can share are:
1) If you think you may soon be impacted (I had a hunch as there was less headcount and financial investment in the sub team of my PA, and my projects were deprioritized in Q4 2022 when the 2023 Annual Planning results came out), get your LinkedIn and CV in order - update core bullets, descriptions, etc.
2) Take time to journal and reflect on what you want to do next - what your strengths are, what type of work brings you joy, etc.
3) Set micro goals as you plan your next move - I would always try to have one “productive” item a day, whether that’s an interview, networking coffee chat, attending an industry event, etc. Some days I had nothing, other days I had 2-4 events, so it averaged out to one a day.
4) Believe in yourself and stay loyal to the micro, not the macro. Layoffs are a reminder that Google is a huge company that’s focused on maximizing shareholder value … it’s not the “different type of company” it was in the early to mid 2000’s, when a layoff was never in question. Remember to give your family, partner, kids, friends etc more of your time - they’re the ones loyal to you, ones who love and care for you in a way far deeper than Google or any company / job could.
I really needed to practice and Improve interviewing as it had been so long and the world has changed. I took advantage of the coaching service Google’s offered through LHH. Also hired someone to update my resume. Copy over your Gresume to a personal file asap. I focused on my health and worked out more. Definitely take at least a month off. It was so stressful to me and I had a bit of fear of the unknown that I went full on into job search mode I wish now I had taken more time. I landed a role after 3 months but interviewed and networked so so much I didn’t feel like I really had a true break. I’m still friends with many googlers, and know it’s not the same company it once was. The world is different, most companies are more cut throat today than 5 years ago. Breathe and enjoy life.

Currently on H1B at MBB and worried to join given I have 2.5years left and PERM has been on pause since 2022. Google was my dream company, got an offer but worried to join with no clear green card visibility. Would you have advice ? Is the Google experience still as strong as it was and opening many doors?
