Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? My research gives me a mixed review: some say it's good, some say that thoughtworks is not stable enough like big 4 or other organisations. Pls help Thoughtworks Deloitte
I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? For both pregnancies, I took 8 months leave. 100% self funded. I worked a lot leading up to it in order to bank the money. It took me 6 months to get my brain back and having the time to bond with my baby helped me to be more focused and less stressed when I returned to work. That said, there are lots of ways to manage it. You'll find the one that's right for you. Don't stress. It's a very special time in your life.
Currently pregnant and planning on just not working for 3-4 months unless I get some work from home gigs and then I will have a nanny come in.
8 months! Incredible. Thanks for the insight. I’m currently booked for the next 3 months, so hoping to stay booked through the rest of the pregnancy and save up. 🤞🤞🤞
I worked until the week before I gave birth, took 3 months off, went back to work when a fun project came up.
Just leave those few months off. I've been freelancing for over 10 years and have taken two months off to travel and surf. Taking a few off to make your own human is way cooler though. Nobody you want to work for cares.
@CrispinPorter. Yes, I listed freelance for the months I was out, so I never had to explain anything. Agency I was at before baby wanted me back so that made things easier.
@CD/CW1 Did you just list freelance as a current role on your resume, or how did you address the gap?
Also, you can use any free time you have on your own project, but I found I preferred sleep during those months.
Took 8 months off for maternity- actually 10 if you consider that I was unable to work the last 8 weeks of my pregnancy. It was entirely self funded. Saved like a little squirrel leading up to the birth. Things got a leetle hairy money wise right before I went back to work, but once I got the first gig I was back on track in no time.
