Soap is fine to use
Chief
yeah, it’s a myth that soap damages it.
Just add oil back to it (season) and it will be fine.
Wash it with salt and see if it still looks like that; if so, reseason.
Someone “overseasoned,” meaning applied too much oil after washing and before heating. Scrub that out as much as possible using a plastic scrubber pad, chain pad, salt, soap, whatever combo. Can burn it out but you can take that too far and create more work.
Whenever you touch up seasoning after a cook, lightly film the pan with oil. Then wipe it out with a lint-free towel far more than you think you should. Wipe until you cannot see any film, then wipe some more. Then heat up on high flame. You should start to see glistening, twinkly bits on the surface of the pan, and maybe light wisps of smoke as the light film of oil still there polymerizes and makes that black coating we seek.
