How many billing entries do you normally have in a given day? I do ID work and normally have about 20-25 entries with a decent amount of specificity, which takes up so much time to input. Curious what others have.

Omg I would die. In m&a and like 5-7 is a really weird day. Usually 3-5.

like

ID 25-30 daily

like

Transactional block billing for the win, I usually have 2-3 per day unless I'm working on a pro bono matter.

like

RE, and do a lot of work for condo developers, which means individual time entries for each apartment. Average is probably 20/day.

Cap Mkts. 3-6, usually.

Transactional real estate. Normally 8-12. Will be a couple large entries and a bunch of small one

20-30, I’m in employment defense at a big firm. Not rare to be 30-40. I think my all-time high is low 50’s.

CRE litigation, depends on the day and the client - sometimes 2-3, sometimes 20+

Different clients require different specificity and it’s a massive pain when you end up working on something for one of the “specific” clients

IP, usually 5-8.

Yesterday I had 70 ugh kill me now

How often do you respond to emails from law students who want to learn about your firm/practice area? I get like a dozen requests right around OCI every year. Frankly I’m tired of speaking to them and answering the same boring questions, especially if I know they have a low GPA and no chance of summering at my firm, but I do feel bad saying no/ignoring them

My partner and I are looking to move from NYC to Dallas in 2022. I’m in big law and he is a public interest lawyer. It seems like they’re less available than NYC, but also not sure if we just aren’t looking in the right places. He currently does housing work but is passionate about civil rights and public benefits generally. Any tips on how to come by public interest opportunities?
