I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

As a reminder our goal on this bowl is to fully understand other people’s POV and to share your POV effectively so it’s fully understood. So that empathy can happen...not necessarily to change someone else’s mind. This may or may not happen.
I created this group because: there are both black and white people afraid to say what they really think. I see this as a problem because unless we can say what we truly feel we can’t identify differences and come to genuine solutions.
Suggested Format is we will deal with 1 question or topic per week. The question will be from participants. I will try to simply be a host, moderator and translator. We will lay out some ground rules to make it safe for all. I will enforce these.

I'm a fan of the pick. I'm not a fan of announcing it before hand bc I feel it discredits her. Like he felt he needed to narrow it down to colored women, he could have just made the selection and complimented her work and leadership as being the best available, not just the best among women or just a minority pick to have a more diverse card.
I believe in I&D being very important but it should be framed better. A company should do things because they know it's right not bc they want to appeal to a narrative and get people excited for their social agendas. They should push for more minority leaders, but shouldn't publish it as if they had to disqualify men/ white men in order to make the selection
A. This looked like pandering
B. No issue with the pick as she is qualified.
My concern is Harris may not give Biden anything he didn’t already have. He needs to win Wisconsin and Michigan and Duckworth may have been a more advantageous pick if targetting midwestern votes.
I believe taking that kind of approach in a company adds no value and could just manipulate share price one way or another.
