Also to OPs question, I'm sure you don't have to wait for the entire period of 10+ years. In any case I'm sure it's something that can be negotiated when leaving for another company. However I don't really know and I hope someone answers your question

Geez guys. All I wanted to know was if people have been able to successfully get out of the job without paying back all this money! Don't know about you guys but I could definitely use that money! I was trying to avoid filing for GC with my marriage.
K1- they aren't running a charity so stfu with the grateful bs! I bring in the $ for kpmg and they throw a fraction at me, it's a business transaction. I'm not grateful for something that was clearly mentioned and discussed during the hiring, and even if it wasn't you should get outta this mindset !

Wtf of course the system is unfair? Why should an Indian have to wait 15 years for a GC when someone from Nepal will get it in 3. That's really fucked up man. You have to ask yourself why there is this limit imposed per country. Why does that make sense?
Look if people don't ask for change, it'll never come. Currently this long wait of 10+ years just to have the safety of being able to go without employment for 2 months and not having to do bullshit paperwork all the time is just ridiculous. No other country makes you wait that long. Canada is 3, Australia is 3 and UK is 5. The USA is also 3-5 except if your Indian and Chinese.

Addressing the original question though... This is just business. K set their terms. If you agree, go for it. Even if you think you want to go back, no harm in starting the GC process. Gives you flexibility.
You should really ask the attorneys to clarify that document for you before you sign. This is not uncommon I think for non-tech companies (e.g. at Google they don't have this policy). Don't sign anything before they explain and answer all your questions!
D1 this is not a compulsory that you have to get the green card. If you don’t want to wait there are other counties as you mentioned. The county limit is made to make sure that America is filled with all different people from different backgrounds. If there is no county limit , we would only see Indian and Chinese here. I support the county limit the prime reason is to maintain diversity. The only way USA implement is where you are born and not by citizenship. Person of Indian origin if they are born in Nepal they get there green card faster.
@M2 citizen here never on visa. The reason is most Indian and Chinese nationals abuse the system so blame the people not system

M2 was, I think, referring to the fact that the green card system is purely time based, with merit, i.e. your contribution to the US economy , whatever that means, not being a factor.
