Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

Tech Trans -> Cap Markets -> M&A. I was going back and forth with the last two because securities offerings that launch pre-market can be brutal from the West Coast with the early morning calls. But, that’s not everyday and the volatility of M&A can wreck lives for weeks even though the slow periods are nice
Yep this. I do M&A in California and today for example I had a 5am call. And the volatility means I can never make any plans without the constant fear that I’m going to suddenly find myself drowning in work out of the blue. I think I end up cancelling more plans than plans I’m actually able to keep...
Firing from the hip cus I only work adjacent to M&A in SF, but I imagine that tech trans has less fire drills and more steady deals than M&A and cap markets. That said, I imagine there’s a lot more specialist review fire drills you’ll have in tech trans.
I do a bit of both and have found that the tech trans stuff can often be fire drills because the sales team wants speed and volume and there are not weird M&A hurdles to get stuff done (in their mind)
For what it’s worth my tech trans coworkers always tell me that they think I have it worse (I’m in PE M&A). No idea about M&A vs cap markets. Think PE M&A is worse than if you mainly represent like sell side founders though
