I have worked on multiple Google projects and tools, ranging from spreadsheets to Google Data Studio. Basis familiarity with the Google systems, I have applied to endless jobs in the organisation. However, I have no idea why is it sooooo difficult to even get an HR call for the screening.

The senior manager was from Deloitte, huh?
Why would you assume Deloitte?
I think this is a one off situation and the consultant works at another great firm.
I hope folks at my firm do not act arrogantly working with partners at other firms. I honestly have never seen it in 2 years working with consultants at other firms for the same client, hence the surprise with the reaction. Also surprised folks doing well in their career still think about one interview that was likely luck...
You use the same app I do, right? 50% of the conversations on here is about ranking the firms and comparing them to cars, Harry Potter houses, fast food franchises, countries, jam... .
I think it’s a combination of recognizing the brand of your firm with the highly selective recruiting process attached to it, “grass is always greener” feelings, and personal insecurity.
I have met incredibly intelligent, charismatic and successful people at MBB, B4, and IT firms. I have also met the opposite at just about every firm.
Personally, I respect the industry and maintain that we have the smartest, most hard-working people, and remind my team to remember to have confidence and humility regardless of who we go up against. When we win, it is because we are the best for that client and opportunity. When we lose, it is because someone else is.

Chip on shoulder, clearly.
People will always feel insecure when those around them make more and/or are in a more prestigious job or have done more by a younger age. You can keep climbing but it never ends. There will always be someone who makes more. Or even worse, someone who also is able to do so with less work and more fun.
At the end of the day, learning how to live a fulfilling life is probably the most difficult problem you’ll spend years trying to solve. That’s the real position to be envious of

I find this to be less true of firm comparison and more true with seniority. People getting promoted does wild things for the ego.

The way I see *some* M, SM, PPMD behave towards c and sc makes me so sad sometimes. I’ve had to step in in clear cut right/wrong moments and it never feels good. I’m not sure why people think they can treat people starting out like that. I feel lucky it didn’t happen to me
The statement is clearly not wrong but indicates a personal insecurity and bad self esteem. This shows as resentment towards you as a person who made it passed the interview. Best way to handle this is to be the bigger one. Don’t respond to agitations and let the SM figure it out.
yeah, this is strange. he jelly. don’t sweat it.
i have talked to consultants from other firms about how our respective firms are. usually we have a mutual jealousy of each other’s positions (grass is greener). never anything like you experienced.
I've met a lot of people with big egos and I think sometimes it's rank, sometimes it's company, sometimes it's something else. But I definitely think that it's a thing in our industry, to feel Superior than others and inferior to others. It just depends on the person and their reasoning behind that.
What level are you?
In another post a guy just went wild because he would be please to be able to talk about “studies” and “pages” instead of projects and slides but he just went out on a poor folk asking about flights 😂
So I would say yes, but probably more related to folks emotional maturity that to their specific employers
