I looked at Tiffany for my wedding band after looking at Brilliant earth and Kay's. I actually was really drawn towards the band at Tiffany's because it was the right size and it was shinier. But the price tag was also 6-7x of other places. I was surprised by how much a better fitted ring can make so much difference.
Tbh - I don't see the benefits of buying at Tiffany because I know I can get a better / cheaper band/rock somewhere else.
I definitely recommend looking into RingConcierge. They’re absolutely fantastic. Tiffany’s is beautiful but have a huge markup because of the name.
Where are you located? Several reputable options in NY diamond district where you can buy a superior diamond with a custom setting for half the cost of any brand name.
Check out Market Street Diamonds in Georgetown and ask for Dino Lozano. Absolutely worth it.
Check out Whiteflash! My diamond is one of their “a cut above” diamonds and it sparkles like CRAZY. Also, people on price scope love whiteflash… and those people are diamond and jewelry fanatics.
My learning in selling my wedding ring post-divorce is that it really comes down to diamond quality and weight of the gold etc. You pay extra for brand and designer name and will almost never recoup that cost. Wear what makes you happy.
Also try the Clear Cut. I have a gorgeous diamond tennis necklace with them I’ve been incredibly happy with.
Go with a local jeweler, you can get so much more for your $
Definitely going to look at local jewelers too. How do you gauge the quality of local jewelers? I know the diamonds have GIA certifications but is there a way to compare build quality for the rest of the ring (especially setting)?
Look at Blue Nile.
And consider lab created diamonds. I wish they'd been around when I bought mine.
Go to your local jewelers row and find a local jeweler there. You’ll get more for your money and better quality.
The only benefit of buying a brand is that they hold value better. I can sell my Tiffany wedding ring for the same sum we bought for, it’s been 11 years though…
Well, diamonds are losing 25% of their value immediately after the purchase, no matter which one you choose. Buy her stock bitcoins instead. You can’t wear them on your finger, but you can look at your account on your phone under the blanket at night and know that they are hopefully not losing their value that fast.
Tiffany is considered lower quality in the industry which I found out by chance skimming through WWD (don't ask!!). Any jeweler can create a ring to spec, and most likely any mall bought ring would be just as good. But... she is not picking a ring, she is buying a fantasy, a happy memory, a Breakfast at Tiffany sort of faith in love.
Check out rare carat too.
Stephanie Gottlieb or ring concierge. Or take the Amtrak to 47th street in Manhattan to get a custom ring that’s GIA certified and good cost.
You’re paying a huge mark up for Tiffany. The only benefit is their “trade up” program - you can get the full value of the ring if you upgrade to a larger diamond later. They’ll also always polish it for you in any city.
Ring concierge makes the best solitaire rings IMO.
Go to a jeweller that can mimic the Tiffany placement
