Will comment on TS clearance. Very versatile thing to have, as it opens you up to many potentially interesting opportunities in the public and private sectors. Many employers don't want to go through the hassle of sponsoring new employees for it.
Also a massive pain to get sorted out the more you have traveled and connections you have with non-US citizens - provisional clearance is relatively fast at about a month maybe if the project requires it, but the background check can easily take half a year to a year+.
Can you please provide some guidance as to what TS clearance means ? I am not familiar with the term outside of highly highly sensitive functions (essentially military roles).
When it comes to handling certain projects where the US government is involved, you need to be cleared in terms of background and get access to the materials.
The standard levels of clearance are Secret and Top Secret, with potential additional layers of approval on top of Top Secret including the now infamous Q level. By getting this clearance, you are allowed access to materials pertaining to the project, though not all materials at that level as it's operating on a "need-to-know" basis.
Hi, formerly held a T/S SCI, to answer your question: Yes. It costs a company about 140k to do one from start to finish. Most companies require you to have it already as they don't want to pay for it. If they are footing the bill, then absolutely.
