If you can’t have an honest conversation with your boss about the perceived favoritism on the team, then you may need to leave this team and find a new boss. A manager with a good understanding of leadership will reward things like productivity and results over favoritism. Some qualities to look for in a new boss is that they talk about equity, fairness, have emotional intelligence, is open to feedback or is actively being coached/developed. Unless you want to play politics more than working. That really seems to work for some people though and they make whole careers out of it. It also could be a part of the larger culture and your manager is playing along. Best of luck, it’s a tough environment to work in because when it comes to raises and promotions it’s hard to attach your value to your work.
By being the favorite.
My strategy was making friends with the favorite and becoming the 2nd favorite. Close enough
The closer I get to this, the other person starts complaining evidently that he/she isn’t getting good work in team calls and then to pacify them again my manager gives me new ones. Super childish (honestly the person is right of school as well) but isnt that what my manager should understand. I remember when I was right out of school I was been tossed around and buried under, completely far off from being the favorite. I am surprised how much these people can pamper a new joinee this is soo weird experience for me really, the goodiness is kinda a problem lol
