Good am! Anyone using a blended classroom model? I am currently in the Modern Classroom summer cohort and would love to collaborate with anyone who has used a similar system. This will be my 25th year of teaching and I'm having a rough time picturing the classroom like this.... I mean it sounds great and I'm looking forward to the change but at the same time I have concerns 🙈.... thank you in advance !

Are you transitioning to building thinking classroom?

Kudos to you for being open and willing to change, pivot, and adjust.

Yes, i really think this will be so good for the students in so many ways, but the implementation seems a little daunting

If by blending you are referring to where some of the instruction is done via video like a flipped classroom it works best if all of the students complete the independent portion.

What exactly are you envisioning when you say hybrid? For example, is it hybrid in terms of technology or in terms of student and teacher input or leadership?

We’re getting new curriculum this year and we’re trying to mix it up in multiple directions So we may be doing something similar to what you’re envisioning. If so, I would love to bounce ideas around. If nothing else, I would love to hear what works and what doesn’t.

Gift giving help: every year around this time my husband brings up his Jan bday and basically demands I spend a lot of $ on him. I find this stressful. I don’t do big lavish gifts but each year I feel pressure to or he won’t be happy. When I say this he immediately launches into “haven’t I done this for you, bought that for you”. “If you loved me you would”. His entitlement and manipulation make me feel super resentful and removes the fun of celebrating him. FWIW we earn the same. What to do?

What’s your opinion on math homework? I teach 4th grade and have always given it but I’d like to see what others do and weigh out if it’s really worth it. If I give it, I feel like I should spend class time going over it but on the other hand I stress myself out trying to keep the absent work organized and those that don’t even do the work.

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan
