There seems to be quite a few people in here looking to join a startup.
We're a mature aerospace impact startup (in Switzerland) pre launch for a new platform to engage and empower passangers in order to accelerate sustainability in aviation. Our product website is www.adaption.me and company website is www.optimaero .ai.
If you're interested in joining us, and you think you have skills that suit our business, you could drop me a speculative application by email at hello@OptimAero.ai.

So does Amazon, Facebook, .... Fyi Facebook / messenger app listens through your microphone and shows you targeted ads if you don't already now
Go to Settings-Privacy-Microphone and uncheck everything. Or do what I did and just delete Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps.
I don't why people are so worried. I don't mind companies having my info as long as my bank account stays untouched and my credit score isn't wrecked
@acn 1, just turning off microphone wouldn't solve the problem. Trust me, as a hobbyist and as a experienced cybersecurity / privacy professional I've performed many experiments and did research over past few years. Siri/Google now / Alexa, your search queries, taking cookies in your browsers based on your searches and websites visited, your content such as emails ( even 1 Facebook like for that matter), Google maps recording your place history including where you were at what time adds so much to the context and information about you. If you want to use any messenger app to make voice calls, you'll eventually need to turn your Mic permission on. These are just a few examples I'm publicly sharing, there's much more to the story. Virtually, online privacy is dead long back.
@ey2, i used to think the same, but wait till you'll realize how internet advertising is creating a huge bias in hour heads about anything and everything.
@ey2 hmm, it's actually much more than just using adblocker. Not sure if you read but recently wsj and some other researchers launched a simulator to build a POC that what posts you'll see in your Facebook news feed based on your views, i.e. Democratic vs Republican. Social media sites doesn't aim for showing you unbiased news, they just want you to click on links, and they can go to any extent to make us click on something. Also Google about Facebook's A/B testing strategy. Considering their business goal, over a period of time they keep showing you posts that we're most likely to click on, and as a result of not seeing anything but what they wanna show us, it creates bias in everyone's mind.
There are a lot of us who get their news from social media. There are some theories which say people who just get their news from social media, doesn't get complete picture of things and hence became a reason that Trump actually won.
Imagine if there are 15 good competitors of Amazon and say you keep seeing sponsored post of jet.com ( you can't turn if sponsored posts btw even with good ad blockers). That's gonna create a bias in reader's mind and if they receive bad customer service from Amazon, that person will go to jet.com instead of better sites than jet.
Those are just a few examples out of many. But i hope it gives you the perspective.
@PWC1 you can turn that s--t off if you don't already know.
^how?
^ can't find this anywhere
Google home is awesome!
Ermehgerd i want one
@pwc1 totally understand, but that's what adblock is for and I ignore advertisements anyway. Kind of a big deal in these parts
@pwc1 an excellent viewpoint and summary. I hate to be a shit but I guess I don't think of my net usage so deeply. I get my News from multiple sources and I like to check for competing stories. I'm not American so I don't buy into you have to be D or R and that's it. I use websites based on previous experience and I ignore sponsored results because I know they're a Sham. It's interesting how different people interact with the net. I'm a pseudo nerd though so I know what to trust/ignore and the more I'm targeted the more I pull away. Great example is YT recommended videos, they overswamp my feed based on minimal selection so I ignore them, go incognito or actively say I don't want to see them. Also VPN ftw
@ey2, see that's the good thing that you're aware of incognito, vpn, and other mitigation techniques. My point being there are some of us that have this knowledge, but still majority of people around us do not know( or not care about) these things, and their impact on our minds. I'm not trying to target you or anyone in particular here but trying to share a perspective.
Also, I'm not an American citizen either but this election does affect all of us in one way or the other (immigrant, global economy, global sentimental policies, ...) . As we're in a world which is mostly driven by democracy, actions of people around us do affect us. So people making uninformed consensus is not a good thing.
