I haven't worked at either, however, I have friends who work at both. From what I hear, Google sounds much better as far as culture. It seems like both pay really well and have great benefits though.
You’re right, G seems to have better culture and WLB. Do you know about one having better total comp?
Google leads on culture and wlb. Responsibility can vary widely across teams. Benefits i am unfamiliar with, but I assume the gap isn't huge.
Comp leader is probably Meta. Stock growth between Jan 2023 and now has distorted pay (in Meta's favor), but Meta has historically paid more than Google, even before the last few years. And Google is reducing pay, so I would still expect Meta to lead on pay.
If you have two offers in hand, play Meta and Google against each other. Ask them both for double the equity and see what they say. Negotiating equity will be easier than salary or bonus, at least at Google.
Regarding Google pay changes and my comp, hearing something from me, an anonymous person online, may not be helpful. Google stories like "Google revamps pay incentives" from April/May 2025.
Like many I haven't worked for either but I know others who have. Google seems like a better work environment. Right now meta seems to be hiring more. If you have offers then compare them by their merit.
Thank you
