D is worst in Big4, you would realize once inside. I would avoid D.
I am senior, joined the firm 2.5 yrs ago. I picked pwc over deloitte because pwc left good impression on me than d. Just that the way I felt comfortable talking to them. Also, Salesforce practice in d is pretty well established where as pwc was growing very fast in that space. So wanted to be with the firm which was growing quicker than other.. but since your role is director, your situation would be totally diff from mine. All the best op..
OP, ex D here. Experience makes a man.
I think there are many opinions people have about big 4s which are skewed by their own experience - often a microcosm of the actual culture. I am at D since last 10 years and have seen the best and worst of the firm. I would be surprised if there is even one unique positive or negative about us. However, DD is different from the rest of the firm. They have a closely protected culture and a more closely knit connect within teams than rest of D. I would recommend trying to get some info from folks with DD than a generic perspective on which firm is better - since that just baits people to say neg stuff
Didn’t realize D has director roles. I would guess their director has more responsibility than PWC’s, which is equivalent to a senior manager
It's in digital. NYC based
Congrats Op, if you want to be in more tech consulting D is the way to go. Can you let us know what your answer was for "why are looking to move from KPMG?" during interview?
Go for the D. They seem to have more work in Digital
K1, the only thing I can think of is challenging projects. I like people that I work with here. Just not the quality of the projects. I haven't really thought much about pwc (one guy seems too arrogant). Dd was interesting interview. Interesting team dynamics. But I've been with KPMG for over 9 years. I'm thinking it's already approaching midyear... Maybe I should wait? My numbers look good this year. Hopefully I will get a decent bonus. I'm trying to see how many would pick d over pwc... Why one over the other...
Thanks pwc2! That was helpful
@b1, what made you say that? Some logical/factual data points would be helpful - without going into personal stuff Appreciate in advance!
And one more thing. I gave interview 5 yrs ago for both Deloitte and pwc and that was in india. Did not join neither, but felt the same thing. I had better impression about pwc over deloitte.. Deloitte folks appeared to me as some kind of dick heads.
I moved from D consulting to KPMG for analytics. My opinion is that D is mostly a worse place to work, with chances of interesting projects dispersed in a ocean of mundane projects.
I have been at D for 11 years now... and I have been working with various vendors and consulting firms... the kind of people I work with at D and caliber really impresses me even now...
People may disagree, but I feel the firm cares.
The only negative is - very high expectations for metrics and cut throat competition.
