While the PBB is a nice little check, it is nothing to write home about. I have worked for other firms where PBB was a significant part of compensation. I would focus on whether you are satisfied with the base and just see the PBB as a nice surprise.

Pay most attention to the one post above about materiality. It is truly immaterial. Industry is worlds better.
EY does not pay variable bonus in reality .. they say they will pay during recruitment but they have never paid
PBB was between 3%-12.5% for most groups, except for 20-40% for EY Parthenon.
Expect 2-5% on normal years
PBB is a joke. Don’t bother about it.
@SM1. We all know the average PBB % in all these years. How much was it during 2020? Also, how much promotion bonus is EY giving for jumping from M to SM?
We all know the average PBB across the firm is 3-6%. 2021 was the only exception year and that too because we never got anything for 2020. PBB is a joke!

The variable pay, “PBB”, was only for ranks of senior through executive director and paid when the firm is performing well or felt like it.

PBB is typically Senior up to MD/ED. But was expanded to Staff this past summer. Not sure if that's a permanent thing or not. As a staff, I got 2.5% (maybe it was 3%) I think.
PBB is not going to change your life, but it's a nice little bump.

I’d suggest you talk to your manager and team members in advance to get a sense of the scale of the PBB. It has been really good for me personally 🙂
You aren't considered for PBB until you join. You may be able to get a sign on bonus, but sounds like you weren't given one since there is no mention of bonus on your letter. Sorry OP ☹️
Plus most likely audit doesn't have sign on bonus, but I maybe wrong. What service line?
Bonuses aren’t substantial as part of overall compensation however EY is considering the move to a larger bonus with different considerations on raises (raises typically are 10-25%).
