I did a package of 6 post partum massages and liked it. I hadn’t seen this therapist before so it was new to me. The massage was like a regular massage but she spent about 15-20’min focusing on my abdomen and scar tissue where I had a c-section. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. She pressed down on my abdomen in specific motions to help encourage blood flow. She also masssged my scar and did something to pinch it ( it sounds painful but wasn’t) to help encourage the tissue to heal.
Overall, I am glad I went because I feel like my body needed it. I did one massage a week.
The therapist asked me to wait for 6 weeks post delivery before starting
Uh honestly, I was NOT at a point where anyone was touching my body between 2-6 weeks pp and with a heavy hand at at, lol.
I’d do some research on the recommended timeframe for post partum massage before you sign up.
Following.
My pelvic floor PT did something similar with my ribs in my appts with her.
Yes!! In Mexican culture it’s “cerrar los huesos” or closing of the bones.
In Asian culture it sometimes done while sitting the month. (They usually push up the uterus too!)
If you went to a prenatal Chiro, they may also do it.
Ohhh interesting. Yes I think she's Mexican, so that would make sense, I'll have to research that.
