Specially, in my case, I had an agreed upon referral cut I would get for bringing in personal referrals at my old firm (personal injury). I left the firm, found out one of my referrals settled, and they now refuse to give me my cut.

like

Yup. Classic. Was your cut in writing? Was your name on any filings?

AA1 has a very good point. Try a conversation first and see how that goes. I’m just so sick of law firms ripping off attorneys like this. Happens all the time. The bait and switch. The empty promises. Really pisses me off.

Question re: salary. I’m thinking about accepting an offer at a small (4-6 attorneys) transactional firm. I would primarily be working on NDAs for clients. The role sounds great (no billable hours, fully remote, flexible hours/ can work from anywhere); however, the salary is $70K. I’m a new attorney, with only one year of experience. Does this salary seem low? If so, any advice on what someone in my position should ask for?

I do digital marketing for a PI firm. I want to chat about Yelp. Obviously it’s a platform built for consumers, not for businesses. Naturally, former clients go there to bash or rave about their experience. While I know Yelp’s algorithm, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on pushing the negative reviews down so they’re not the first few that populate? The review replies are specific, detailed, & to the point as to why they’d write it, the outcome of their case, etc. I appreciate any help!

Any tips for transitioning into a new firm? I was with my previous firm for 5 years. Came to a new firm a couple weeks ago, and I’m taking over around 25-30 cases, all in different stages of litigation. Any tips for someone who went through this successfully? It’s tough, between 2 different managing partners who are different but my cases are pretty 50/50 between them. My previous firm I had far fewer cases.

I am looking into starting my own firm with one other attorney. I have never been a partner or solo so I am trying to figure out best practices right now. I would appreciate any advice on starting up, things to avoid, preferred software, which gods to pray to, etc. The goal is to be virtual and to primarily do PI with a small amount of business services (my current book is mostly business litigation/contacts/outside counsel work).

Thank you all in advance! This is pretty daunting.
