Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Marginally. I asked for 10% more than the offer, settled for their 6% counter. Not a big win, but I was ready to accept the initial offer so I'm happy.

That’s a win either way! Good to get even the small ones.
Yes. Bumped an offer from 180 to 200, still debating it.

That’s pretty good, good luck with the offer!
I personally prefer not to negotiate salary during a first interview. When asked, I always redirect the question and ask what the company offers for the specific role.
The reason is simple: without fully understanding the responsibilities, workload, expectations, and the company’s culture, it’s impossible to give a realistic number.
Once both sides have a clear picture of the role, the conversation about salary becomes much more accurate and fair.

Yeah that’s fair, first interview always seemed very early for me.
