It’s all about balance. Sure there’s times I work late but also times I leave early.

If it balances out, I guess it's ok. But when it is one-sided against your personal time, it might be time to speak up.
Just remember that while the job market is a mess, your time is worth something. My grandpa told me a saying I have yet to follow, "eat to live. Don't live to eat". Similarly I would say "Work to live don't live to work."
I don't think it's realistic to say you'll never work late, some projects and deadlines will need it. It's only a problem when it becomes routine.
