Ey doesn’t care as long as you pay it.
We had a guy in our office get fired for this. A partner was specifically telling us that's a big no no now. Dunno why you would even want to? Use your own card and get points.
I still don't see how firm could fire someone over it, unless they racked up thousands and decided not to pay their bills. In general a few charges that are paid on time, not a problem (for me, at least).
Technically not allowed for personal use. It's not actually your card. Is not at all connected with your credit report...so the firm policy is firm expenses only.
In general, corporate cards are only to be used for business expenses. If the policy doesn't say personal use is allowed, better to err on the side of caution and not use it. To my knowledge, personal use is never allowed unless it's related to business use (such as buying snacks at the hotel - it may be added to your bill but you can log that portion as personal in the expense report).
OP wouldn’t stupid be not understanding your firms corporate card policy? I mean its really not that hard to look up.
Loll what? EY1 are you trolling? Of course you can, it's your own personal card. You pay the bill each month and only submit legit business expenses through gt&e. Over the years, I've personally put thousands of dollars on Amex for various reasons; although as above commented, you generally shouldn't do that cuz you lose points- but not because you get in trouble with EY.
Not allowed for personal use
Went to a strip club and put the drinks on the corporate card....AND RAN THROUGH THE EXPENSE!!!!!
It is definitely policy to only use it for business expenses. It may not be enforced all the time but to say it is only a suggestion not to use for personal expenses is explicitly false
I’ve never had an issue with personal expenses
EY3 that was a true story, so I don't really know what you expect me to say. Ask your partner or read the policy. I personally don't consider it a big deal but I also like credit card points so don't give much thought to it.
It’s definitely not a “suggestion"
Ok... so the card is in our name, our social, we pay the bill. GT&E literally lets you mark amex transactions as “personal” to keep track
My people consultant once said it in a formal meeting that it’s not encouraged to charge personal expenses on the Amex and it’s also not encouraged to charge firm expenses to your personal card. But they also understand that things happen, like you might have forgot your card or businesses don’t take Amex etc. As long as you don’t make it a habit, you should be fine.
Our Amex policy specifically says no personal expenses allowed.
^untrue
SM1 that's just plain stupid
Why is that?
