I see it all the time. Veteran owned, women owned, etc. Not sure how the public reacts but usually if I see two stores with one being veteran owned, I’ll usually just gravitate towards that shop.
no mention of price?
i would not go for a bad value bang for buck just cuz it’s veteran owned
Pro
I have Marine Corps Veteran on my business cards, which I never give out lol.
Key here: do not use any logo or emblem of the military. Those are fully protected and registered trademarks.
I had a bad experience in the military and for me veteran owned isn't a positive. I think it comes down to knowing your customers. Are you targeting customers who would respond positively? Will it attract customers you wouldn't attract with other marketing tactics? Will it alienate customers you otherwise would have attracted?
Do the math and make a call. Good luck!
i am not sure how it’s like for ossifers but enlisted time is not good. big waste of time other than some tuition benefits that the CoC can still jack up for u

It’s the oldest trick in the book. I react well providing I’m looking for a service that I think lines up with the skills of an average veteran.
Veteran owned would do nothing for my accountant search, but may guide my search for a project manager

Agreed 100%. All things equal I will always choose the vet, but in many roles it’s rare that all things are equal
Identifying as Veteran Owned in the context of government contracts is way more than marketing. These SBA designations for small businesses and or traditionally economically disenfranchised groups can help earn a place as a sub or outright awards for contracts set aside specifically for those very groups. In short, there's certainly a subset of vet owned businesses that would have been gone long ago without this designation and advertising.
I found that using "veteran owned" did not resonate with my customer base, but I do see it working out for other small businesses in my area. Depends on what your product is and who you're targeting.
Pro
Extremely positively in almost any area.
I wouldn't go whole hog and name my business after it or have veteran in a tagline or something, but I'd definitely have it in marketing materials.
