Has anyone gone through the Green Card processing with PwC? The firm requires us to pay back the application fee (which from my understanding could be upto $10,000) if one resigns within two years...

Did they say “Application Fees” or “Legal Fees” too? Just Application Fees are not that much,

For us, we need to pay back the legal and government fee. Which by the estimate provided could be as high as $10,000

(Cont) after I-485 is approved. That seems a bit ridiculous to have to give commitment to the firm for 12-14 years. Am I misinterpreting something ?

Yeah. I485 approval is going to take 5-10years. So just get your ducking i140 and leave whenever you have to. You most probably won’t have to repay. And if you are that close to 485, 10k is not a lot of money as I expect you to be making at least Manager salary

It’s not about me not wanting to stay. I am looking forward to at least a couple of good years in consulting but the idea of having to pay $10K sounds a lot.

Not sure why you are bothered about it ! It’s not a new concept. Many firms make people sign that otherwise people take advantage. Like someone said, you won’t get the I 485 approved in few years anyway. If you really stay until that point and then decide to leave, you would have already made enough by then to pay back 10K (first of all they won’t ask most likely).

Weekly reminder that I hate my job and I’m only still here for a green card

Hey KPMG fishes, when it came to the green card application, did immigration reach out to you when the time came, or did you talk to your practice partner before initiating the process?

Deloitte isn’t entertaining transferring from USI to US. Is it worth joining a sub with D, filing the GC and then come back to Deloitte US? Currently a SC with two years to go on H1B.

The H1B transfer process is just taking soooo long and the wait is painful. Had my interviews in Oct and got the offer only in December. Signed the offer end of Dec and they have still not filed my H1B transfer petition 😑 😒 Mentally checked out of my current job since December. How long will this pain continue....end of rant.

Hi - I am on my H1-B visa and EY sent my I-485 case to USCIS 11/30/2021, I just had my biometric appointment today (1/24/2022). How long will it take me to get my green card ? I think my field office/service center is DC. I see 12 - 43 months for employment based adjustment application and the receipt date seem to be in July 2018. Would it really take that long ? Anyone had experience with the Washington DC center ? It just seems so discouraging waiting for so long

Does anyone in the group have any of people who have moved from Non-US Deloitte to Deloitte US on L1A? I am a Deloitte UK employee who was earlier Deloitte US employee on H1B but had moved out due to not getting I140 on time. Now I have completed 1 year in Deloitte UK and have become eligible for L1A. Anyone sailed similar boat before?

I am on OPT Stem currently in my last year. What are my next options for visa if my company doesn’t want to sponsor me for the H1B?

Is EY still sponsoring H1b?

I’m starting with a new company in May. They are sponsoring me for H1B lottery this March. Should I tell my current company to not sponsor me for H1B lottery this March? (I don’t want to break the news of leaving) (Are there consequences of two firms sponsoring me at the same time?)

Was wondering if anyone has experience making a switch to a consulting firm in London from the US? I've been in consulting for 4+ years and am currently at a boutique strategy firm. Is it easy to find a gig in London/get visa sponsorship? Where to begin to look?

I am about to accept an offer with Deloitte Digital. Curious to see what the timeline for H1B transfer looks like. Has anyone been thru it recently and can give me an estimate.

Has anyone gone to a US Embassy in Europe to do the final “adjustment of status” process overseas for their green card? This is in place of doing it in the US where it will take up to 36 months.

I am currently in the U.S. on an F2 visa through my wife who decided to go back to school. I was approached by Deloitte and after having a bunch of interviews got an offer which I have signed. Now to the problem - visa. They seem to have been under the impression that I already had the H1B status and only needed to sponsor the application process. This is obviously not the case and now we are preparing for the application in March. Q: what is my best recourse if I don’t win the lottery? EB visa?

Following scenario:currently on L1A and got a job offer, new employer is willing to sponsor my visa. I am aware I can’t just switch but they are willing to try the H1-B lottery. Comp will be significantly higher, I am fed up with my current employer and am really interested in the offered position. They know me from a joint project. Are there any disadvantages for me switching from L1A to H1B? Can I still be eligible for EB1C? Ideally I want to ask the new employer to file for a GC asap.

Would you buy a home now when you’re on H1B or wait till you get GC, which is anticipated to come out in 3-4 years? I am eyeing 650K house w 20% down, have 2.5 years left on H1B while currently waiting for PERM processing. Is it too risky to buy a house now?

Tax help: I’m a H1b visa holder and a resident for tax purposes. Just had a casino winning but casino withheld some of foreign person’s tax and gave me form 1042-S. Do I get these back when filing tax

Have you had any teachers quit mid-year and/or are you yourself thinking about leaving?

Please don’t bash me for asking this. But, am I the only one who no longer finds joy in drafting/redlining traditional contracts? Thinks it should be simple, sleek, and in plain language? Would anyone from Deloitte be willing to give me a referral for an Ethics & Compliance role that was posted recently? TIA!

I need to replace my aged iMac home office setup. I’ve gotten very used to the 27” screen, but it’s 12 years old. I have a work computer and dock, just need to decide between one of the new ultra wide monitors, or two independent. Would be great if one could be portrait and the other landscape, or possible to switch back and forth. Anyone have any suggestions on monitor setups that you love?
