No one can give you good advice. I know people who got a 3 after meeting utilization, doing pursuits, BD, recruiting, and everything under the sun. I also know people who got a 5 and early promotion coz they got direct exposure to PPEDS who wrote their reviews. It's all about the counselor selling you and it's a lot of luck. There are things u can consciously so to get a 2, sure. But nothing guarantees a 4 or 5.
I have a excel doc with all of the areas. For my practice which I think is the same across advisory I have categories for winning in the market, people, quality and operations. I fill out the document every month before my call and send it over. We talk about it and At year end, I send her a Summarized document, outlining my goals vs the framework vs everything I have done. She puts her voodoo words in there, it makes year end so much easier if you talk through how you are reaching milestones based on the framework I have learned.
No advice either. Partners who have been at the firm close to 20 yrs don't get the process anymore - seems to be gravitating towards "favorites" and frankly total nonsense.
Find a counselor you trust. People really need to this this, consulting is all about selling yourself. In the lower rungs u find someone who can sell u to the review committee and in the higher rungs u bring in business. No matter what people say, consulting is NOT about getting your excel sheets in on time and being a social butterfly along side it.
I have a one on one every month with my counselor, I keep track of everything I do, even if it seems small. At year end she took all of the info I had and mapped it to the framework (I got a 5 and promo this year, just for context) and she was only my counselor for 1 year
So how exactly do I suck up to my counselor when I will prob never see him? (Different offices)
There you go^^ S1 proved my point. Thank you.
Want a 4 or 5? Learn to sell. Sell yourself if you're a junior and sell the firm if your manager or above.
I thought my counselor is assigned and that's who I have to work with? @senior 1 did you literally send over a document summarizing what you did or did you just make sure to mention it all in your meetings?
@ EY - look at the E&D framework and set badass goals against it. Then crush it and make sure everyone knows
What's you level? I got a 4 but honestly I think the rating system is kind of stupid ... A lot of the tips on here won't work for a firm of our size
