Recs for LA & San Fran??
BOS —> ATL

Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

If you live to be outdoors you will love being near the ocean, redwood forests, only a few hours from skiing and gold country and Yosemite. I miss living there!
Dude. I've been there. Almost every person under 30 uses the terms "safe space" and "triggered" in a non-comical way and think the police shouldn't carry guns. The homeless are rampant. It would be a great city if it weren't for the people living there.
If you're a very extreme liberal with a lot of money you want to waste it's perfect.
Make some before you go. The average person spends 70% of their paycheck on rent.
Ugh with the "extreme liberal". The west coast is just more progressive and generally willing to try new things. This coming from a Seattlelite who now lives in the northeast. Love SF - the city itself is super expensive but check out the surrounding areas for better deals. Everyone I know that grew up there loved their experience.
I've lived in the East Bay all my life, I guess the housing prices have never really phased me. It's off set by the fact that I can be outside almost year round, there are so many great cities nearby Oakland, Berkeley, SF, San Jose, and smaller enclaves. There are micro-climates within driving distance like Tahoe, Stinson Beach etc. it's not hard to make friends here either. Everything is very activities based.
I love California cuisine, very influenced by fresh fruits and veggies and Asian culture. Yum!
Liberalism is almost the opposite of progressivism @ACN1 liberalism is generally about freedoms and rights, minimal restrictions, socially, fiscally, economically. Progressivism tends to be restrictive and authoritarian
No, Oakland is an awesome city. Everyone just heard about West Oakland, that's like judging the US by only reading about the South. Neighborhoods like Lake Merritt, Rockridge, Jack London Square, Temescal etc are great places for amazing food, outdoor concerts, fresh food markets, great home prices, really good music without the pretentiousness and general assholery of the Peninsula. Also more likely to meet Bay Area natives instead Silicone Valley transients.
Yes, I'm talking relative to the SF Bay Area it's be odd if I were talking about home prices in Houston since OP is about Bay Area.
to the Deloitte folks responding: just curious, have you actually lived in SF, or know people who have lived there for awhile? Your arguments sound like you've read the negatives from a NY Times article and not actually had any experiences in the area.
I am South Asian btw.
100% over hyped. Cool place to visit; however, I would never live there.
Extreme liberal yes. Lots of money, no. Looking to go there and make some.
Lots of opportunity and jobs so if you're just looking for a few years might not be so bad...but if you're looking for something long term and starting a family or anything like that do some math and go in fully informed
Of course, plenty of city life too lol! It IS San Francisco 😀 🚋🚴🏼🎤🌇🌃
Oh and also, SF and environs have wonderful running trails!
Single or with a family? Makes a huge difference. Housing is REALLY expensive, with a family you will most likely not be able to live in the city but either in the north bay or east bay.
The suburbs of it are amazing
And the west coast is absolutely far from liberal - very progressive though.
All the outdoorsy stuff is cool. As a city, it ain't New York or Chicago for sure....
