Should I just quit the legal field?

I have been a paralegal or legal assistant since 2010. I have worked for small and large firms and a TPA. I've worked in L&E, PI, and ID. Billing hours gave me nightmares. Right now I'm in a hybrid paralegal/LA position where I'm responsible for all of the docketing and supporting the managing partner and 1 associate and their 90+ ID caseload. I make a lot of mistakes everywhere I work. I feel so incompetent. Should I just abandon this career path?

First, congrats on making it this far. Sending hugs. Second, sorry you feel so bad about your mistakes. Has anyone said anything to you about the mistakes or are you berating yourself?

Something to think about, What do you think is the root? Do you think the environment is too fast and maybe something slower like appellate work or government would be a better fit? Maybe there’s something else going on? I’m also a bit dyslexic so reading large documents for long periods of time bothers me.

Don’t give up, you’ve made it too far.

Received verbal offer for L4 non-tech role (accounting/finance) and I’m very disappointed in the numbers:

Base: 111k

I told my recruiter that my expectation is $130k base and 120k equity, which I thought would be reasonable given my 7 YOE. They even skipped HC bc I was a clear cut (not to toot my own horn). Any thoughts & tips on negotiation? I have no competing offer rn. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Interviewing for a mid-level producer role in-house at an established/well known tech company, NY office. I’ve only ever been agency-side so really have no idea what to give as my salary expectations. 5 years experience, currently at 100k. Benefits are comparable (except now I’ll get equity). But I hear that at both brand-side and tech you can expect higher. If I asked for 140k would I be laughed out of the room?

I worked at a large insurance defense firm for 4 years out of law school. I really enjoyed the work itself, but the hour expectations kept increasing and I was getting burnt out. I decided to try a new type of law and have been at the new firm 3 months. I have way less responsibilities and none of my own cases. I’m worried this was a wrong move/too far of a step backwards. I know I don’t see myself here long term, but I’m not sure how long I need to stay to avoid looking like a job hopper—help!

Hi all,
Has anyone here transitioned from an engineering role into consulting without first getting a MBA? How was your experience?

I’m an engineering consultant (>2YOE) in a very niche specialisation and I’m thinking of transitioning into consulting. In my current role, the work is really good but $ is not justified (once you hit that >2-4 YOE) compared to effort (hours+constant learning) you have to put in, liabilities, etc.

Any and all insights are appreciated! :)

I’m going to talk with my psychiatrist at my next appointment, but I’m curious if others have had issues with Vyvanse no longer working. I’ve been taking it for about 15 months. It lost it’s effectiveness for me a few months ago, so my psychiatrist increased my dosage to the max. That helped slightly, but it’s back to no longer working. I usually don’t take it on weekends and even had a 10-day period in August where I didn’t take it.

If you’ve had this issue, I’m curious to know what you did.

What are the side effects of a small dosage of Adderall? I am thinking about getting tested, as this bowl has made me realize I may need to be. I just saw an ad for an app called inflow that’s supposed to help manage adhd and create strategies to address things like putting off and staying on task. It’s $22 a month which is cheaper than a coach but more expensive than a planner. 3rd year associate here. I'm a corporate attorney. After a rough year of a lot of personal (much of which led to my diagnosis of ADHD). I am on the hunt for a new job and have been thinking more and more about the impact my ADHD has on my work and I feel like the deficiencies in my executive function make it seemingly incompatible for me to practice law -- full stop.

Has anyone weaned off of their adhd meds after a few years? Why? And what was your experience? I’ve been diagnosed but hesitant to start meds because of no end date.
