What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

There.are two separate issues being discussed here. Yes, jobs are VERY hard to come by, and separately, negotiating is harder for thos that are getting an offer due to the market being heavily weighted towards the employer.
The holidays are historically slow, compounded by an unusually high number of people looking for work in certain industries.
I just signed an offer letter and l will be starting in January. To be honest l had been looking for about 7 months!!.
It was really hard negotiating but they eventually agreed to a 10K sign on bonus. Everything else PTO and base salary didn’t move.

I heard a horror story of someone's offer getting revoked because of negotiating, so I am nervous about negotiating if I receive the offer I think I'm going to get next week. I'm hoping they offer me enough that I don't need to negotiate but that probably won't be the case.
It's always slow this time of year
I'm still waiting to negotiate my salary with a job I'm supposed to be getting here soon. And I'm not going to be negotiating very aggressively. I figure if I don't take what they are offering, somebody else happily would. The economy definitely impacts my confidence when it comes to salary negotiations.
I got an offer for a bit above my bottom number. I consider that lucky across the board. I didn’t even try to negotiate.
What are you hopping to negotiate? Most departments won’t give anything above 3%
