I am currently negotiating a compensation package and part of it includes stock options. What other information do I need to evaluate if the equity component is a good offer ? It’s a ~40 person company and I’ve received the the number of options, most recent valuation, and current strike price. I was also given a dollar range that I can “imagine” the share price would be (I think they were trying to help me do the math without it giving away too much)?

How can I understand the equity in an offer for a Series A? What would be a good offer? For context , base will be 120-130k in London, not sure about bonus yet

I am considering investing in an early stage startup. I know the founders for many years and are more like family to me. I will be investing $100K with a convertible note. What should be the equity that I should be drawing out? I don’t want to draw just the fair amount so the company is not at a disadvantage when they eventually raise money outside of F&F. They are valued at $5M by a startup accelerator and received $50K as part of being admitted into the program. Contd.

Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.

In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. Any thoughts on that idea or someone who has experience in the market?

I want to join a start up in my industry but I need to rescind a job acceptance from a more establish company. I resigned from my old job and didn’t start the new job yet. Is the non compete I signed, as part of the job offer acceptance for the position with the bigger company, enforceable if I rescind my job acceptance before I actually start a new job? I don’t think it is. I didn’t receive a sign on bonus so no additional consideration was exchanged from my understanding of my law classes.
