What questions should senior associates be asking to get a better assessment of partnership prospects? For context, I’m eligible this year as an 8th year, but it’s more common to make it around years 10-11 at my firm (only equity partners), and I’m trying to determine whether to stick around or lateral before I’m too senior. I’m in a smaller group that historically promotes only one new partner every few years, and there are several others also eligible. Any questions I should avoid asking?

I have an impromptu review tomorrow and am hoping to negotiate a higher salary as my role has been expanded since hired, and we have lost a designer with no intention of hiring anyone to fill the position. Hoping to get some comparable salaries to see where I stand and what to ask for.

Curious here - my buddy just became a “Director” of Business Development in a LCOL area for a professional sports team. He likes to brag about how much he makes but I don’t really buy it. I was able to secure an interview at Microsoft for the Customer Solutions Architecture position. Want to find out from everyone what kind of questions I should be expecting in this interview and what the hiring process is going to be like.
