Has anyone used the reMarkable tablet? I’m growing tired of using multiple notepads, but haven’t heard enough to justify spending the money on one yet. It seems brilliant and perfect for this type of work, but want to hear more feedback before spending the money. Pros? Cons?
And if anyone does swear by theirs, is it permitted in court to take notes since it’s technically an electronic device, even though it doesn’t have web browsing capabilities or recording functions?

I have been using one for two years-ish. It solved the multiple notepads problem. It is not quite as quick as paper and pen, but otherwise great. A second gen one is out, though very behind in delivery.

Just got mine last week. Forgot I had ordered it. It is fantastic. Only flaw is no great manual. But fairly intuitive.

Just got my long awaited remarkable2 delivery and so far so good. Very happy to be off notebooks, which are hard to organize and track. This will translate my notes to text and email to my work account so I can save important meeting notes in client files or convert to a more formal reports easily. Used to love using MS Surface with OneNote as alternative to paper notes but had 2 of those die on me in 2 years. Hoping the remarkable lasts longer.

I’ve been using Microsoft one note + iPad Pro with pencil and have no complaints about it. Me, however, I have many complaints. For one, sometimes I don’t feel like unlocking my iPad so I write shit on a sticky pad in front of me, use the sticky note to block my webcam, and then forget that note was important.

For real, I’m always apprehensive to invest in a tech I’m not sure I can integrate easily into everything else. I email my notes from OneNote as a pdf to each file and it’s there, done and easy

Have you tried Rocketbook’s notebooks?

I'm impatiently waiting for my gen 2!

Instagram has made me want this thing for months ...

My MP is into tech and has had one of these since it came on the market. He loves it, and purchased the Gen 2. Not sure if he got it yet or how its going due to WFH though.

I have been waiting for my remarkable second gen for like 3 months. I think mine is coming in the next week or two. Exited to see how it works and whether it’ll be worth the investment. Also interested to hear other people’s opinions on it who have it

Better idea: Request early access to the Aiva Law note-taking app - made specifically for lawyers, by a lawyer! 💡We’re cheaper, and we’re developing a way to organize your notes by case and send them to your team, along with a picture of your notes and a transcription, all automatically. Plus you can use a real legal pad and smartpen that looks and feels like a normal pen. We are also intergrating with Clio. Request early access at aivalaw.com or by emailing claire@aivalaw.com

I’m posting this here instead of my usual Big Law bowl because I’m guessing there are people here who will understand. I just need to vent. I am married to a wonderful man who has a young son. My husband is the kindest, most patient and supportive man I’ve ever met other than my dear late grandfather. He is saintly. But the chaos that surrounds him hurts me. I am the primary breadwinner and far out earn my husband and my stepson’s bio mom. I have always put pressure on myself to succeed (Cont.)

At what point do you begin to feel numb (if ever) when you’re done trial and prepping for another trial in a span of 3 months, while mains full caseload of other active litigation cases? Should I be worried that I’m going from engaged and stress to numb and slightly indifferent? Or is this what it feels like to power through? I can’t gauge it anymore? And can’t impose judgment one way or another either.

I have a question for my fellow PI paralegals in Texas. TPCIGA requires that we submit all medical bills through the clients insurance before proceeding further. The client in question has Aetna. I sent the bills with a cover letter to Aetna via certified mail. I am having so much trouble getting a status on said claim. Does anyone here have experience with that and can assist me? Any help or guidance is appreciated.

I work in a firm that is known for litigation defense. I’ve been developing my own plaintiffs practice as well. I am able to pay the bills with my hourly defense work, which gives me time to focus on a handful of high value PI case a year on contingency. I was recently negotiating a case and was told part of the reason the claims rep/OC was jerking me around was because they didn’t see me as a plaintiffs attorney. Is there any way to change this perception or does it just come over time?

Looking for some advice. Second year associate at firm of 25ish attorneys in the Midwest. Looking to make a move and have an attractive offer from a small firm of 6 attorneys. Better pay and work life balance, but I’m concerned for how a firm that small may impact my career options moving forwards and if other firms or in house options down the line maybe frown on such small firms.

How do you usually ask for PTO? I have the days accrued but I have PTSD from a past job about asking for time off. I’m wanting to take 5 days in June for a family trip and know I need to put in the request to the partners I work for sooner rather than later. I had to take a day this last week and they were great about it (immediate “Yeses”) but somehow, asking for a week feels like a hurdle. (Also, I’m only 7 months in, haven’t met the partners IRL, and we only really communicate via email)

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years. I am considering staying at the firm but trying to get trial experience through side Pro Bono work. Thoughts?
