They buy or commission work through third party production companies for the most part. If you work at Apple, odds are you’re working on the marketing of said projects. If you want to be a show/feature writer, working on an Apple property will most likely occur through the same means as any other studio property.

If we’re talking specifically about Apple’s marketing: in my case, they tried to hire me after I had made a very famous piece of work and won some of the biggest industry awards. Not saying that’s the only path in, just that it was the moment I came onto their radar.

definitely competitive, but it’s less about being a genius and more about passion, creativity, and persistence. Having standout work or connections helps, but showing you can bring fresh ideas and collaborate well goes a long way. Don’t let the "out of reach" feeling stop you.
Go to an Ivy. Write for the college comedy rag. Join the comedy “dinner club” or whatever your school calls it. Get a job because of that. Profit.
True but going back to college/an Ivy isn’t really a feasible option for a lot of folks here, especially in this economy
You mean like their entertainment, not advertising? I think you just need to have a good writing packet to get a job as an entertainment writer.
