I think the most productive thing as that people stopped freaking out about 6-7
Regardless of the industry, 99% of the time an all-hands meeting is really just executives talking to each other and making subordinates listen and watch for no real reason, and 99.9% of what they discuss could have been sent in an email blast with the same effect.
I’m convinced that they only hold all-hands meetings to make their direct reports believe they are as busy as they pretend to be.
I can’t think of any reason why a company genuinely needs an all-hands meeting unless it’s a major announcement that will actually impact everyone.
The company I work for holds them for any major HR announcements regarding benefits (this I actually agree with) and once per quarter for updates on anything that actually impacts our job (this I also agree with). I’m lucky to have an employer that only schedules meetings when they actually have something to say AND they don’t drag it out either. Love that.
A previous employer of mine held daily virtual stand up calls that they would run for AN HOUR AND A HALF at the beginning of EACH workday. If nobody had anything to say, we’d just sit in literal silence until time was up. I hated that with a passion, even if it was on-the-clock.
