Have been in public accounting for over a year now and have heard mixed reviews about staying or going into industry. What was the key thing that made you guys jump from public to private?

Honestly work/life balance. I've been able to finally prioritize my mental being and to me that's priceless

like

^ the above.

I started getting stressed out, couldn’t sleep without listening to meditation app, constantly thinking about solving work problems even when “off”. When I made the decision to quit I felt so much better mentally. I didn’t want to get to a place where I was burnt out before I quit, seen it happen too often.

Definitely work/life balance. I rarely had time to plan my next vacation/trip and was taking vacation days just so I can recharge at home. I was also worried about starting a family and working the long hours at the same time. I also was not a fan of getting emails late at night/early mornings and constantly taking home work.

like

For me it was not just current work life balance but also looking into the future and not seeing it get much better. The Senior Managers and Partners above me had a little more independence but were still working the same hours as me if not more. Ultimately, seeing one of the Partners I most respected jump to industry triggered me to start seriously consider leaving PA.

like

Career development. I couldn’t see myself eventually building a book of business or leading audit training. I enjoy what I do now :) lots of hours in public, but if you want to go far in your career, can be lots of hours everywhere. Some good perks in public - flexibility, free food + drink, opportunity. But they may not really worth it if you (or your career advisor) aren’t sure about a future for you in public

Could someone help me break down the differences between a Data Analyst vs Data Scientist vs Product Manager? And add any pros/cons from personal experience? In my mind they’re all related, but I don’t have experience working with any of these roles.

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I am also looking to relocate to a different state. How do I go about properly marketing myself to companies that might not take my relocation and minimal experience seriously?

I will be grateful if anybody willing to share what the day role looks like and what I need to look out for in an interview. Thanks. Cheers.

Hi ME 🐠s! Would like to know a bit regarding Business Analyst roles in MBB, T2 / B4 firms in UAE. I come from a target school in India (say MBB / T2 hires from my college every year) with ~1 YOE in consulting - based in Dubai. Would the stated firms consider me for a BA role (lateral hire as an experienced BA)?

I am currently working in advertising with experience on fintech & CPG. I would like to work in tech marketing, specifically Google’s APMM program.
I’ve been studying some PM/PMM books/podcasts/videos, attending Google events, and want to keep learning more to try to prepare myself as much as I can.
What resources helped you get into product marketing/Google?
Has anyone here moved from advertising to tech?
Would love to hear from a marketer about their experience getting into Google.
Thank you

My start date at the new job isn’t until 2023 so there is some time for me to turn in my notice. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?
