Outside of WLB I don’t think Industry is going to solve your issue. Accounting is a boring career
Brain was melting??? Lol
I left public accounting 15 years ago for corporate tax and never looked back. I get tonnes of "offers/opportunities" to go back every year to public accounting. I never will. No quality of life and these companies don't seem to care to change. You can't stay burnt out forever.
You are so right. I hate that I’m starting to hate going to work because that’s never been me. It’s draining not feeling like I’m happy or have free time.
I was burnt out in Public and didn’t know what I wanted to do in Industry so I joined Siegfried. I’ve been on the same client, in the same role for over a year and I enjoy it. Most of the time, it is much less demanding than public. And I enjoy knowing that the client appreciates all of my hard work. I also get a lot of variety because I work on a lot of ad-hoc projects and have so much background knowledge on the client that I can jump in and help out wherever I’m needed.
Maybe consulting at a boutique firm? Might be a bit heavy on hours but nowhere near public accounting. I hear pay is much better, too. It really depends on your priorities and what your family situation looks like.
