As a general rule, if you want to get a raise you have to advocate for yourself. Start making notes on things you've done that contributed a lot to the organization. And when you've got the opportunity, make the point to your boss that you've grown in the job and you're a valuable worker who contributes a lot. If you don't spell it out, they won't realize it on their own.
Have you followed up about the initial conversation you had with them? Sometimes you have to be really persistent about these things. It can be frustrating because it makes you feel like you're having to pester them, but three years without a raise is a really long time.

How did you bring it up and did you provide a proposal on why the raise is deserved? Sadly most pay increases these days come from job hopping though.
Have you asked for a raise? I learned a long time ago that some companies won't give you one if you never ask for it. If they aren't willing to give you a raise I woudl recommend looking for a new company.
It's a sad truth that your boss probably has no idea how much you actually do. One of my bosses even admitted that during a performance review. So I educated her (nicely). If you want even a chance at a real raise, you're going to have to show them your value with numbers. Keep track of the times you saved the company money (and how much) with your proofing, with your ideas, with the ways you went above and beyond your job description. They simply won't recognize your value, even when they should. You'll have to prove it. Every year. Make notes for yourself when you do something amazing, but do it WHEN it happens. Keep a copy of those notes both at work and in your personal file (maybe email it your home address and save it to a MVP Me folder). Sending yourself those quick notes are a huge help when it's time for reviews.

I am in the same boat. Are you a 1099 or an employee? I have been 3 years as well, no pay raise. If and when I get more clients, I can have an advantage to ask for more but at this point this is my only client.
