Ehhh I think they're more likely to tell you if it's for budget reasons...I was suddenly rolled off for budget reasons and my SM made sure that my counselor, RM, and RSLL all knew that that was the only reason it happened
Yikes, have you told your counselor? Not that they can keep you on the project but they can help manage any fallout...
I would find a way to ask for any performance feedback, if possible. In my experience if its budget related, people will say that. (Or use it as a cop out) Weird that they didn't say anything.
Agree with D1 - make sure you get in contact with the SM and loop back with your Counselor. Shit happens - sometimes styles don't vibe (I've seen similar before) but shouldn't seriously hurt you. Lucky we're in a bit of a grey area with performance reviews and you don't have to do a PE
Relax. Could be a budget issue. If it was not performance related your manager will tell you. I was gracefully rolled off at one point because budget priorities changed.
I've been rolled off suddenly once due to changing budget priorities and once due to a working style mismatch. They acted completely normal during a team dinner Wednesday and then told me Thursday morning -- I had to rush to pick up my weekend bag from my hotel before my flight (as I wouldn't be coming back)!
What does "had an off week" mean? Sounds like you really dropped the ball...
I would also throw a calendar invite for a chat with the SM who is a fan of you (even if he or she is on vacation, it will at least be on the radar... If director is looking for a replacement, she probably made SM aware of it.. shows you're proactive, aware/ want to talk through it, and that way you can speak with the more senior person in the situation)
Yea - www for budget issues. The team was cut from 8 to 5 ppl in a matter of hours. As others have said, if you have a decent manager they'll make sure the higher ups understand it wasn't performance related.
Mine isn't budget. Basically SM loved me, went on PTO 2 weeks, director came in, I had an off week, was told through the grapevine she starting emailing for a replacement. My SM doesn't return until Monday, I emailed him but haven't heard anything
