Have you transitioned from public interest to big law? What area? I know prosecutor to defense counsel is common. What else?

IMO public interest usually means PD/legal aid/policy work, not prosecution. In that realm, transition into BL is virtually never. Prosecutors come over from AUSA regularly, rarely from state or local pros offices. SEC laterals are common, DOJ is common, other gov agencies will move attorneys over here or there. But the kind of work you’d do as big law pro bono is usually never going to turn into a biglaw lateral.

I transferred from prosecution (10+ years) to an alternative track at a big law firm. Check out those options.

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? Transactional junior associate in biglaw. Working for a dedicated practice group rather than in an associate pool. For the past few months, I’ve been loaned to another practice group for a good chunk of time. While the people are decent and the hours aren’t terrible, I detest the work and don’t see a future in this new practice. My main partner says it should end in the next month, but I don’t expect that to happen. Is it a terrible idea to ask to be taken off?
