Rising Star
I’ve heard this as well and I believe this is sort of true. Directors take a paycheck but Partners take lions share of the commissions. So it’s commissions, then bonus. Equity I think you technically “buy in” to the partnership so you’re usually paying that out of your income. There are pros and cons. There is a reason some people who’ve been offered Partner have chosen to remain Director instead…

To clarify, I think “bonus” is more of like your share of the partnership pay out (and you choose how much goes to pay for the “loaned” equity and then keep remainder, or something like that). I’m sure we can ask tomorrow during the Americas SC summit.
They have no fixed salary BUT get a kind of base anyway which they don’t need to give back if they don’t reach the minimum sale threshold to get this base as commissions - anything on top is solely paid as commissions
Both Directors and Partners get a monthly "draw" which is effectively an advance on commission for projects sold. The difference is directors' draw is fixed, Partners have some discretion in setting their draw. If you don't meet your draw in a given year, it would likely be adjusted down the following year. If you exceed your draw, the extra gets paid out twice a year.
