I had two recruiters today reschedule a meeting. And this is the second time rescheduling. Honesty, not sure what value recruiters bring. Is this common now? I bought a house last year from a senior couple and was locked into a senior exemption on my property taxes for the rest of the year. I just received my property tax bill for the new year and I'm still locked into the senior exemption. Can I be penalized in the future if I don't say anything and just keep paying my property taxes as is? I feel like it's the village that screwed up and that's on them. Thoughts??

Let’s talk speed reading. I’m a slow reader and listened to a podcast recently on speed reading. I’m intrigued. Who here speed reads? How did you learn those skills, and what types of documents do you speed read in practice? I do mostly litigation and am thinking that speed reading would help with research but maybe not things like doc review where you need to review for both responsiveness and privilege.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Was interviewing with a firm and soon after receiving an offer, learned of bad culture/toxic partners in the practice group from a couple of associates who recently lateraled from the firm. I turned the offer down. A partner that I clicked with while interviewing reached out asking me why I turned down the offer. Should I be honest and relay what I heard?

Trying to lateral and the conflicts clearance process could not be more frustrating. I'm at the point where I'm becoming resentful and annoyed at my new firm and I haven't even started. Is this indicative of my future experience there or completely unrelated?
