Early Childhood

Lots of emerging studies linked to screen time and young children. Has anyone else heard this? (For reference, I got it from Michigan’s Birth-3 program)

I haven’t read any studies, but I see it all around me. I teach Transitional Kindergarten (4-5) and they know how to use tablets/phones very well. Also lots of tv/movie watching. With this has come lower fine motor skills and lower social emotional skills.

As a K teacher, I see the advanced skills with technology and the low fine motor skills especially with self care and handwriting. Lacing and jumbo tweezers have been a kid favorite activity to improve those skills.

There will come a time in the near future where paper could become obsolete and everything moves into digital. Classrooms would have digital worksheets and Google docs or word, teaching would happen from smart boards and computers. All of which could be sent to parents digitally. I can see this in the next 50-100 years!
