I can assure you that in this highly competitive environment for talent, you definitely got the job because you were the best candidate for it. Have confidence in what you bring to the table and let that guide how much you crush it in the role. You got this.
You were hired for a reason and its never because they thought you were lucky. Be confident in yourself! Your accent doesn’t take away from your intelligence and what you have to offer. They clearly thought you were brilliant and deserving of the role.
Bruh, I’m Indian and I’ve used my “indianness” to form some beautiful connections with folks. Own it, you can use it to interact with people from your own country & that’s helped me build confidence to talk to others.
You will do great. There is no shame in having an accent. You were the best for the job . Keep your head up .
This industry is one of the most competetive industries to date. I assure you, no amount of sheer luck would've gotten you to where you are now. You got in because they saw something in you that they knew would be valuable to the company. Your accent cannot diminish your skils and intelligence. You are deserving of the position you are in.
It is normal to feel like that on the first days. Once you start meeting more people and realizing that they don't care about your accent and that everybody has an accent, then you will stop worrying.
I do feel like that sometimes because I tend to compare myself to my co-workers and that I only got the job out of luck as well. But I do remember how high my company's standards are and that they hired me so that makes me feel a little good about myself.
Oh man, imposter syndrome is REAL. Almost everyone experienced it at some point. But I can tell you that no one would undermine your skills because of your accent - if they do, it's their own issues they need to deal with, it's not yours. Don't give yourself excuses to put yourself down!
Why would you say you are hired because of luck. Besides, someone's success is not dependent on their accent but their skills and competency. Doesn't matter if you have an accent. What's important is you can speak the language that everyone can understand.
Don't think too much about that. You were hired because of your skills and competency. You are still adjusting so it's normal if you feel that way at the moment.
