Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

More often than not - the very junior employees and the very senior employees are safe during layoffs. The juniors are cheap labor, and the seniors have relationships, proprietary knowledge, or strong subject matter expertise. If you’re a first year and not completely terrible at your job, you’re probably safe.
No
Unless they close down a whole group/team/floor/office. We aren’t at 2008-09 levels though, so don’t lose sleep
Depends. What division are you in? If you’re in IBD you don’t need to worry, there’s enough voluntary attrition that layoffs almost never happen. If you’re in IMD, Securities, FICC, or any Federation group then you should always be worried.
That said, first years are rarely subject to the layoffs. Unless you’re truly terrible, you pretty much get a free pass for the first year.
Abso-f*cking-lutely.
At Barclays I have seen first year asssociates laid off.
