I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they were unprofessional. I wear them all the time at work and nobody has ever batted an eye. I think they are totally fine.

Thank you so much for your response! I was honestly debating on returning my shoes since I wasn’t sure or not

My take is that toes are not for the office.

I agree. But then again, maybe I'm old school cause i remember reading in the 'employee manual' (c. 2009, when starting my career in a finance office) that open-toed shoes were not acceptable for safety reasons.
That being said, I may have at some point done the big-toe peep shoe look, but mules or strappy shoes are a no-no for me, but i don't judge when others do

I wear one toes shoes all the time.

I think it more depends on your office and industry. Are people wearing open toed sandals to work in the summer? If business casual I’d say yes that’s fine, even if male dominated.

I just finished a big jury trial with a senior partner (SP). There were co-parties w/separate counsel. SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. SP did a few parts but went rogue and did things that were offensive/risky/bad for client. It became clear that SP is not performing like SP used to and may be a liability. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.

So am I naive for wanting to develop friendships with my coworkers? It seems like everyone has a life outside of work and as much as we talk about being collaborative and teamwork, no one on my team actually wants to develop friendships. Is it pointless? Does anyone have tips regarding attending social events, such as happy hours with coworkers and express that drinking isn’t my preference?
With me being the only one on my team who doesn’t drink, it causes me to stick out, and others constantly question why I’m not drinking.
It kind of deters me from attending work events, but I know there’s a lot of benefitting in being around.

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

Hey all - 2 years in consulting so far as a fairly "type b" personality - relaxed, uncompetitive, enjoy socializing with my colleagues. To be clear, this is not the same as being lazy or irresponsible - I am diligent and do my work well.

Nonetheless I think we can generally say finance/professional services etc. reward "type a" habitudes on its face.

Thought it could be fun/funny/supportive to share experiences as the chiller brains in these anxiety-fueled fields.
