Might be something in your resume that is holding back the interviews. I can absolutely confirm that an Ivy school is NOT mandatory I have an MBA from an accredited state school and I made it in the FP&A world. When I hire for analysts MBAs are a nice to have but not what I personally consider an excluding factor.
It’s difficult to transition to FP&A mid career. You either come over from controllership as a leader, or start as an analyst. But not always, just have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity. FP&A is not rocket science, in fact it’s very little finance. A basic understanding of an income statement and solid excel skills is all you need. Highlight any experience you have forecasting and partnering with other departments.
