Gave interview in TCS, it went pretty well. At the end, the tech interviewer asked my expected ctc. After mentioning as 27lpa, he asked if can be negotiated, told yes.
After that didn't get any feedback, its been around 5days.
Is 27lpa too much fr tcs? 🤔

Hi guys,
Need help,I am joining VMware Banglore on 27th June. During interview I told them I need wfh. They said it wil be wfh this entire year. Only mistake I did was i didn't permanent wfh. I took for granted like once I join i can opt for it ( as my VMware friends had said we can opt for it)
Now the offices have started, I am scared if they call me to office , I have 14months son, not willing to leave him n go for office.
So if I ask manager to give me permanent wfh will they agree ?

Which tier 1 college? Are you looking at flagship MBA programs or executive MBA programs?
All data points will vary from college to college and program to program.
Also, there's no specialisation called leadership.
I see there's a lot of negativity with very limited context.
Firstly, you are already aligned to management consulting. So the first question is do you want to continue with that or do you want to pivot?
Secondly, the problem resolution that tier 1 provides is not through their placements, but through your ability to get shortlisted and get your second switch. A considerable number of people switch their jobs within the first year.
Thirdly, w.r.t. the comment above, nobody gets hired as partner after MBA. It is analyst or consultant and manager or associate director post executive. What is a bigger question is what is your current designation, company, and package?
Fourth, McK have their internal MBA program as well which is reputed. So your current consulting firm can have options you may have not explored.
Lastly, what, other than placements and money, are you looking for from you MBA experience?
Thank you for your response.
I want to stick with management consulting but want a move to strategic management.
I’m looking out for a full time MBA not just for placement but also to learn concepts which I fe is important and I’m missing right now as a consultant. I agree that later in life I may acquire it through experience but my perspective is different, I would rather go a step beyond and prefer to acquire it and use the same as I already now have 5 years of exp.
Ofcourse I’m looking out for an ROI as well of the time and money that I’m planning to invest. My question wasn’t related to whether I must do an MBA but it’s more towards the ISB as a brand for MBA and the reality of skills and placements.
Given that you want to stick to the same profile/career trajectory, your first dipstick should have been trying to get into MBB laterally, the compensation & designation they offer. The reason for this is that indicators of quality have higher value than core experience. Also, given that you intend to make an in-field switch which may be different from your current experience set, you would need either your current company to enable a vertical switch (which, as far as I know, is unlikely).
If I assume that you have not attempted the dipstick, you do not know if you can actually make it to the case team's with current setup that you have. Having said that, ISB is one of the top (if not the top) colleges for consulting. The flipside is that you will be competing with profiles having some ridiculous Peaks (national players, musicians, IIT/DU grads who are also on dean's list etc) so you have to put some intense efforts to make your profile stand out.
Irrespective of how things fall out, you will be away from job market for only one year. While there will be a major expense that you will bill, having the ISB logo should (my guess is it always would) help you get shortlisted for the next 5 years that may be currently out of bounds.
Other than this, if I recall correctly, ISB also has a consulting club which let's you take on real consulting cases which may help you get a flavour of what you are looking out for.
Beyond these, the only factor left out is your current ctc, ctc and brand you can get with a jump, and ctc 2 years after ISB accounting for one jump in that period. Either way, I don't see a loss.
Thank you this helps! :)
I’m planning to go with 1 year full time program from ISB. Want to know if it’s worth the investment, actual package details and time invested.
It completely depends on the outcome you are expecting from an MBA. That's my first piece of advice to anyone.
If you're looking to switch domains, then MBA is the answer. Else, I would suggest you look at other options. As Kyndryl 1 rightly pointed out, only 30-40% people are able to extract the best ROI from ISB.
College name , would they offer u placement .. what is the fees .. where would you intern is it ?? ROI is very less for mba ..think about it !! Mba is worth only in isb or iim .. or try to do it in Canada where you would be eligible for PR .. don’t waste your money on silly colleges
