I’ve been at my clerkship for 5 years (4 with a different judge) and one with my current judge, and I heard horrible things about him before starting, but I assumed they were exaggerated. Turns out they’re all true, and I’ve had to start therapy to deal with him and the incredibly toxic environment. I’m trying to get out ASAP b/c he also has a history of firing clerks without cause or notice, but I think I’ll only be able to give two weeks notice if i get the job I’m interviewing for. Thoughts?

Question: I have a client who started a restaurant. He leased the land and bought shipping containers where he spent money contracting out to turn them into bars. I’m having a tough time determining how to depreciate this! First thought was leasehold but he’s not making improvements to a structure...he owns the structure! I had an offer from Company A but joined Company B last week.
Company A had sent joining kit (Mug, tea bags, notes) and Laptop a month ago and last week I received another welcome kit (t shirt, headphone etc).
Now I've been asking them to have someone pick these things up but no one has responded yet.
My friends are telling me to send just the laptop and keep other stuff, as those are trivial.
Ethically I'd send all the stuff but what are you thoughts on this?
