Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? I had positions in private sector that allowed me to supplement having a degree with experience but not in public sector. Anyone go from a congressional or govt affairs background to an MBA program?

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

I received a TS/SCI job offer upon which I turned down for personal reasons. However, I'd completed a full-scope polygraph in the process and was wondering if I'm eligible for federal contracting roles. Does anybody know how I can determine my clearance status?

I currently have a Master of Arts in Public Administration and am trying to break out of the realm of government and law enforcement.. that being said, I have been pondering the idea of getting certified in Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and sustainable business. Would this be worth the investment or should I leave that to people with a heavy finance background? Just want to be more marketable since my main background is in law enforcement data analysis.
