Hi fellow fishies!
Can someone please explain what is “SUPPLEMENTARY allowance” in my payslip??? It is the highest in my entire payslip, more than basic salary. Basic is lets say ₹7 lac annually and supplementary bonus is ₹7 lac 40 thousand.
Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

Do you want to live in a walkable urban area or driving culture in the suburbs? Is diversity important to you? What would you like to do for fun on the weekends (hiking outdoors, beach, restaurants)? What’s your tolerance for cold? There are many many great places to live with young kids, you need some more criteria.
Atlanta sounds like a good fit to me for what you’re looking for. Charlotte is not going to be that urban or diverse. Boston sounds good too though more expensive and winter but agree with others that winter can be really fun for kids. We’re in Chicago which is about as cold as you can get and we still have a good time.
Nashville
Dallas area
NYC. We live in Manhattan and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I'd highly recommend some of the suburbs around Boston. They're quite safe, some of the best school districts in the country, and a lot of things to do and see.
This is what I would recommend. Or something in North Carolina.
Dallas
Houston. You're an hour from a beach, the city is more culturally diverse than New York, no state income tax, cost of living is very reasonable (I could go on...)
The affordability part is spot on. However, between the flat terrain, uninspiring nature and dull beach (Galveston), the outdoors are sub-par.
Can call it even on the weather with atrocious summer heat canceling out the milder winters.
It may be the place for people whose priorities are sprawling houses, pool parties and backyard barbecues
Jersey, obviously
Lot depends on what you want to spend on housing and schooling?
Are you 100% positive it won’t be? As someone who lives in DC who spends nearly $5k a month on childcare and has a very average house for $1.2M… though in a very good school district… it can get pretty crazy here depending on the city.
Just throwing that out there as food for thought.
I’ll throw Pittsburgh out as an option. Cheap, good school options, lots of tech work, interesting art scene, unique food, etc.
Minneapolis, amazing schools and better cost of living
Miami !
